OPERA BIO
Jordan Costa, dashing Italian-American tenor, is garnering increasing attention for his mellifluous vocalism, exciting fioratura, and spectacular high notes. Most recently, Jordan successfully performed his first Ernesto (principal artist) in debut performances of Don Pasquale with Opera Magnifico. Also recently, he enjoyed abundant success performing as Count Almaviva (principal artist) in The Barber of Seville with Park City Opera and Opera in the Pines, also previously as cover artist for Opera Theatre of Saint Louis and Virginia Opera. Of further note, Jordan covered the title role in Le Comte Ory as guest artist with Merola Opera. Upcoming in 2026, Jordan will perform as Arturo (principal artist) in debut performances of Lucia di Lammermoor with Berkshire Opera Festival.
In fall 2024, Jordan made his enthusiastically received principal artist debut as Don Ottavio in Virginia Opera’s Don Giovanni. Spring 2024 found him covering the role of Tamino in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte as a Nashville Opera Mary Ragland Emerging Artist. During the 2022-2023 season, Jordan served as a Studio Artist with Sarasota Opera, where he covered the principal roles of Paolino in Cimarosa’s Il Matrimonio Segreto, Don Ottavio in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, and Armand in Massenet’s Thérèse. He also sang his first title role as returning guest artist in Yale Opera’s production of Rossini’s rarely performed Le Comte Ory and debuted with Salt Marsh Opera as Bardolfo in Falstaff. In summer 2023, Jordan debuted as tenor soloist with the Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra in Mozart’s Coronation Mass and later performed as Gremio in Kiss Me Kate while a Studio Artist at Central City Opera.
Jordan made his professional debut in fall 2021 as Nemorino in Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore with Opera in Williamsburg, and later reprised this role with Yale Opera in spring 2022. While at Eastman School of Music, Jordan performed principal roles in The Pirates of Penzance in collaboration with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (2016), as well as in L’incoronazione di Poppea (2017), the world premiere of the newly re-orchestrated The Light in the Piazza (2018), and Don Giovanni (2019). Following graduation, he served as Resident Young Artist with the Glimmerglass Festival, where he performed as Remendado in Carmen.
An esteemed alumnus of the Yale and Eastman Schools of Music, Jordan has worked with several reputable and highly-selective Young Artist Programs including Music Academy of the West (2019-2021), Glimmerglass Festival (2022), Sarasota Opera (2022-2023), Central City Opera (summer 2023), Virginia Opera (fall 2023), Nashville Opera (spring 2024), and Opera Theatre of Saint Louis (summer 2024).
