Diana Orlanova, spinto soprano is an internationally acclaimed Armenian/German soprano, currently performing as a soloist with Opera Classica Europa and Neue Philharmonie Hamburg, and appearing regularly with opera houses across Germany, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Belgium, and Romania. In 2025 she made her European debuts as the title role in Aida (Bucharest, Romania), Nedda in Pagliacci (Bad Schwalbach, Germany), and the title role in Tosca (Bad Schwalbach, Germany). Since 2022, she has been heard as Cio-Cio-San (Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany), Contessa (Le Nozze di Figaro; Basel), and Tatiana (Eugene Onegin; Germany, Belgium, Poland, Nord Opera Productions). In Munich she appeared with Werktheater München in Opéra Olympionica, performing scene from Daphne (R.Strauss) and Marietta (Die tote Stadt).
Earlier roles include Mimi (La Bohème), Micaela (Carmen) as well as the titles roles in Suor Angelica and Rusalka (Dvořák). Upcoming engagements include further performances of Aida, Cio-Cio-San, Tosca, and Maria/Amelia in Simon Boccanegra. Her expanding repertoire further features Lisa (Pique Dame), the title roles in Manon Lescaut (Puccini) and Turandot (Puccini), Elisabetta (Don Carlo), Leonora (Il trovatore), and Elsa (Lohengrin).
Equally at home on the concert stage, Diana is a passionate interpreter of lied, oratorio, and opera programs. She has performed in major concert events across Europe, including a series of Opera Galas in Germany with the Opera Europa Classica Orchestra under the baton of Hans-Friedrich Härle, and a Christmas solo recital in Vienna in the Great Hall of the Ehrbar Palace as accompanied by I-H. Hutterman. She also made significant debuts at two of Germany’s most renowned venues: the Gewandhaus in Leipzig and the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, where she sang the soprano solo in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony as conducted by Marco Parisotto. Throughout her career, Diana has collaborated with a number of prominent conductors including Michael Preiser, Fabio Mastrangelo, Keri-Lynn Wilson, Peter Wiegold, Kristian Knapp, Alexander Petukhov, Andrey Velikanov, Sergey Fedoseev, Jiří Štrunc, Michael Ostrzyga, Norbert Baxa, and Andreas Pascal Heinzmann.
Diana began her musical journey at the age of five, studying piano and winning multiple international competitions as a young pianist. She graduated from the Central Music School of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Brunel University (London) and after that studied opera vocal performance at the Tchaikovsky State Moscow Conservatory and the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory in St. Petersburg, where she earned her Master’s degree with honours. While still a student, she was invited to join the Young Artist Programme of the State Mariinsky Theatre, where she began her professional operatic career. She continued to refine her craft across Europe, participating in advanced training programs such as the Académie Musicale de Villecroze in France, Opera Accelerator YAP in Lithuania and Exzellenz-Labor Oper in Germany (2021). Her artistic development was shaped by a number of distinguished teachers, including Professors Irina Maslennikova and Makvala Kasrashvili, as well as Teresa Berganza and Eva Randová. In 2022, she joined the Weiterbildung programme for opera soloists, training with Peter Tomek at the Bavarian State Opera and later with Wolfgang Wichert at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein.
Diana Orlanova is a winner of numerous international vocal competitions, in particular, “Romana Vaccaro” Prize at the 1st International opera singing competition “Romana Vaccaro” (Bad Schwalbach, Germany, 2024), Giacomo Puccini Prize at the International Competition in Memory of G. Puccini in Milan (Italy, 2024), 1st prize and several special prizes of the 55th Antonin Dvorak International Singing Competition (Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic, 2021), 1st prize at the International Italian Music Vocal Competition in St. Petersburg (Russia, 2017), 1st prize at the International Vocal Competition “Citta di Pesaro” (Italy), and many others.
